The Eastgate Almshouses

The original site of the Carres’ family home, which was also used as a hospital from the 17th century, is where the Almshouse and chapel are located.  The eastern range of homes was built in the 1790’s and refronted by H Edward Kendall in the 1830’s. Charles Kirk designed the south range of homes and they were built in 1844, following Kendall’s example. The homes were for the deserving poor of Sleaford and the surrounding villages.

Now known as Bede House.
